MYHockey Advertising Information
MYHockey has grown tremendously in the past few seasons by offering the most comprehensive and
accurate youth hockey information on the web. It covers all of the USA and Ontario.
From Ontario to California, Alaska to Florida, MYHockey includes over a hundred leagues,
almost two thousand youth clubs and closing in on ten thousand teams. Go to a local rink where they play competitive
hockey and odds are you'll find people talking about the site. Advertising on MYHockey can help you
target your hockey audience.
How is advertising on MYHockey sold?
MYHockey sells advertising by annual contract or by the purchase of a block of ad impressions (an ad
delivered to a web site user on a web page). Shorter ad runs are possible, but less cost effective.
How many ads are displayed on a page?
MYHockey will typically display two ads per page. While there are many pages that are part of the site
that display no ads (typically administrative pages), most MYHockey pages will display two
advertisements. MYHockey does not believe in flooding the user with advertising. There will never
be more than two MYHockey ads on a page. Pop-ups, flashing ads and other strong user turn-offs
will not be used. Google Adwords will also be displayed on many MYHockey pages.
How often is my ad displayed?
MYHockey will sell no more than ten (10) ad spots. With two ads per page, your ad will display
on at least 20% of the MYHockey pages viewed by users. If less than ten ads are sold at any one time, your ad
may display more than 20% of the time. MYHockey web statistics show that the average MYHockey
visitor sees 8-10 pages per visit, making the odds significant that most MYHockey visitors will
see your advertisement on each visit.
What is the size of the ads?
All MYHockey ads will be 120x90 (pixels).
Are any advertisers given preferential treatment?
All advertisers are treated equally, but there may be times when loyalty/longevity of a relationship
may be used to break ties. For example, existing advertisers will be given the "right of first refusal"
to their ad spots when more than ten advertisers are interested in purchasing MYHockey ad spots.
If I do not have an existing 120x90 ad, will MYHockey help create one?
Your initial purchase of an ad spot does include services to create an initial, basic 120x90 graphic
advertisement. Advertisers are more than welcome to have their own media or advertising
departments provide graphics. This will not only expedite the process, but ensure that
corporate trademarks are used appropriately.
Can I change my advertisement during my ad run?
Ad graphics can be changed at any time during an ad run. If you are requesting that a
second advertisment graphic be created by MYHockey, there may be an additional fee
associated with the change. In general, MYHockey will work with advertisers to make
sure their advertising dollars are spent wisely and effectively. All reasonable
requests for improvements will be honored. MYHockey reserves the right to charge
a small fee if the requested services will take a significant amount of time to make.
How many pages/advertisements does MYHockey serve per month?
MYHockey traffic is somewhat seasonal. Based on over two years
of web statistics, MYHockey will see over 15 million pageviews during the 2009-10 season.
Months October through January will have as many as 2.5M page views from nearly 100K unique visitors.
How much does an ad spot cost?
The price for a 12 month contract, an estimated 3.0M ad impressions
during the 2009-10 season, sells for $500. If ad spots are available, monthly
runs are available for $100 during peak season.
How do I pay for my ad spot?
MYHockey uses PayPal services. Advertisers can pay with their PayPal account or, if they
have no account, they may pay by credit card in response to an emailed invoice from MYHockey
through PayPal. All transactions are secured by the same technology that has enabled EBay
for years. Advertisers can pay by check or money order if necessary. All funds are USD.
PayPal takes care of any Canadian dollar to USD conversions.
